Rita’s Visit

This past weekend Rita came up from DC for a visit. Although the original plan was for some nice fall foliage walks, the weather necessitated a plan B (yup, it’s still raining). I’m happy to report we had just as much fun going to the movies, playing board games and eating in. As the photo above shows, Aaron and Rita enjoyed a home-cooked dinner of steamed lobsters and clam chowder. The salad of course is mine.

One of my favorite things about this book is that in this fictional world there are names given to ideas that ought to have names in the real world. For instance, Diax's Rake is the idea that you shouldn't believe something just because you want to. The name itself isn't that important, but I like that Stephenson recognizes that some ideas deserve to be acknowledged.

Like GTA in the Old West, but so far, more interesting. I just hope that the buddy characters don't require the same kid-gloved hand-holding from GTA4.
