Snow in October?

Today is Saturday, October 29th. It’s 3:16 PM and it is snowing in Beverly, MA. And it’s actually accumulating…I can’t believe it. I just took the above photo of the street out my apartment window. I wonder if this weather is indicative in any way of the kind of winter we will have this year? It’s totally crazy, but makes me giddy all the same. I do love snow. :)

One of my favorite things about this book is that in this fictional world there are names given to ideas that ought to have names in the real world. For instance, Diax's Rake is the idea that you shouldn't believe something just because you want to. The name itself isn't that important, but I like that Stephenson recognizes that some ideas deserve to be acknowledged.

Like GTA in the Old West, but so far, more interesting. I just hope that the buddy characters don't require the same kid-gloved hand-holding from GTA4.
