My new job

Spiderman Aaron

A bit of good news. Last week I was promoted to Web Technology Manager. Now I’m responsible for all web projects for the college. I’ve been working to grow towards the web arena for the last few years, so I’m quite excited about the new position. My first initiative is to replace our old, tired CMS with a shiny new one so that our staff can get their content up on the website quickly and easily.

That’s awesome! Congrats! What software do you use for CMS? Penn State uses something called Angel which I’ve grown accustomed to over the years.

I was about to say that we use Oasis, but “use” implies usability. Oasis was written in Cold Fusion with a SQL Server back-end. The company folded years ago and the CMS hasn’t been supported since. How is Angel?

I really like Angel and when teachers use it it can be quite good. Things like tests online so you don’t have to waste class time is nice, and they have the abilities to randomize the question and answer order or even pull 10 questsions from a pool of 30 or more so two stundents sitting next to each other have a hard time copying. Also you can have tests set up so you can’t copy/paste which is a pain in the ass (as a student of course). It’s also good for group work because teachers can set up chat rooms or drop folders of groups. I like it but of course I’m sure it costs a bit :)

I always knew Lisa looked good in tights (ballet) but I think you have her beat!

    Thanks, Mom. I agree.
Do you still have the Spiderman thermal Underoos that I had when I was 8? I might try to squeeze into them.

    Aaron,

I think I speak for everyone when saying that “no one in their right mind would EVER want to see that!” Especially your mom!
