Justin’s First Birthday

It’s hard to believe, but Justin turned one at the end of July. Amy and Joe had a cookout – birthday party at their house a couple of weeks back to celebrate the occasion. It was a perfect low-key affair with family and friends and of course lots of presents. Click on the above photo of the birthday boy to see the album from his party.

One of my favorite things about this book is that in this fictional world there are names given to ideas that ought to have names in the real world. For instance, Diax's Rake is the idea that you shouldn't believe something just because you want to. The name itself isn't that important, but I like that Stephenson recognizes that some ideas deserve to be acknowledged.
