Amy’s Birthday 2007

Right before Christmas the whole family got together at Amy and Joe’s house to celebrate Amy’s birthday. We had a fun evening of dinner and cake, Amy opened our presents and then we played a board game. It was a nice low key celebration and great to be together before the holidays. Author: Neal Stephenson

One of my favorite things about this book is that in this fictional world there are names given to ideas that ought to have names in the real world. For instance, Diax's Rake is the idea that you shouldn't believe something just because you want to. The name itself isn't that important, but I like that Stephenson recognizes that some ideas deserve to be acknowledged.

Like GTA in the Old West, but so far, more interesting. I just hope that the buddy characters don't require the same kid-gloved hand-holding from GTA4.
