Toddler-sitting

In March Mom took her annual trip to Florida with Nonnie. With Justin’s favorite sitter out of town, Aaron and I volunteered to watch him for a day. We had a great time doing some of Justin’s favorite things, which currently include searching for and watching windmill videos online, reading books, building with blocks or cardboard boxes and playing picnic – complete with a blanket on the floor and plastic food. He has an incredible amount of energy and lots to say – he is definitely not a baby anymore – but he’s so much fun to be around. One of my favorite things about this book is that in this fictional world there are names given to ideas that ought to have names in the real world. For instance, Diax's Rake is the idea that you shouldn't believe something just because you want to. The name itself isn't that important, but I like that Stephenson recognizes that some ideas deserve to be acknowledged.

Like GTA in the Old West, but so far, more interesting. I just hope that the buddy characters don't require the same kid-gloved hand-holding from GTA4.
